About the Role
Mott MacDonald is hiring a Software Developer to support its digital products team, Moata. In this role, your main responsibility will be to help improve the security of Moataโs software systems through testing, patching, and automation.
You will work closely with experienced engineers to design secure systems and ensure the stability and safety of application infrastructure. This position involves hands-on work with system vulnerability assessments, high-level design reviews, and applying security fixes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical security assessments and find risks in systems and applications.
- Work with principal engineers to design secure systems and reduce vulnerabilities.
- Automate security testing and verification processes.
- Support regular patching and maintenance of system infrastructure.
Required Skills
- Strong communication skills โ ability to explain security risks to engineers.
- Detail-oriented with good planning and analytical thinking.
- Preference for automation over manual processes.
- Solid knowledge of infrastructure and cloud computing.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Understanding of enterprise architecture: business, data, network, and security layers.
- Familiarity with backend and frontend development languages, such as:
- SQL
- C#
- Python
- JavaScript (ES6+, TypeScript)
- Experience with frontend frameworks like React + Redux.
- Good understanding of information systems and processes.
- Proficient in English โ both written and spoken.
Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- A university degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Hands-on experience in application/system vulnerability testing and code-level security audits.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of security engineering, network security, authentication protocols, and applied cryptography.
